Ya know whatamean? If you could go back in time, back to those days as a JW and react then as you would now knowing what you now know, what would you do differently? It could be a particular day, or an event or something you went through. I could think of tons of stuff. Like when they assigned me the masturbation talk (recent post). Man, I wooda given that crap right back at em'. But being a good little do-what-I'm told-mindless-JW, I obeyed my captors. Anyone like to relive a moment? A little time machine game . . .

Insensitive talk assignments
by Steve Lowry ini once was assigned a talk on masturbation when i was about fifteen or so.
the theme of the talk was to discourage masturbating (actually to forbid the practice), as it was considered by the society a no no.
looking back on it, it offends me to this day that they would give a kid such a sensitive and embarrassing talk assignment like that.

Been away for a few days and am just now reading over everyone's replies. My God, but what bullshit we had to endure as JW's! I thought my little story was bad enough until I read all of these! I'm particularly fond of the one about delaying a young woman's 'shame' of desfellowshipping so she could give the M talk. Did I understand that story correctyl? And the one about how the guy who was to give the 2nd part of the meeting only to find he was to be DF'd?
Its hard for me to grasp how low the WBTS is capable going. I'm always amzed to see it go even lower.
Thanks for all the replies. If I had a chance to go back in time to that day when I realized I had been given that talk on masterbation, man would I have some fun with those fkers.

Looking back on it, it offends me to this day that they would give a kid such a sensitive and embarrassing talk assignment like that. Bastards. But I was taught to play by the rules so I gave the talk. When I got to the podium and announced the topic I was to discuss you could have heard a pin drop. Oh, my delivery was WBTS textbook! It all sounded so good and moral. Problem was I was 'doing it' about three times a day myself. But I gave that talk like I was clean as the virgin snow. I guess this is how JW's learn to be hypocrites. You're given unrealistic "principles" to live by and you had better for appearance sake follow through.Anyone else ever have to go through anything like this as a JW?

I am so ashamed...
by zeroday ingood men have shed their blood on the battlefield of freedom so i might be free.... stood up to tyrany that i and others would taste the sweet smell of freedom.... and yet for almost 30 years i distained these people as enemies of god.
distained their sacrafice as worthless.
i stand here today to ask forgiveness of those who laid down their lives that i may be free.

What a beautiful expression of humility! Feel no shame brother, for it is the way JW’s are taught to believe. I also grew up in the Vietnam era, and I remember being ridiculed by my teachers and other students for refusing to salute the flag while in junior high school. It was brutal, but I thought I was doing the right thing. I never really held anyone in contempt, because I never really allowed much personal thought about any of the JW policies I followed. If the mighty Watchtower Society said it was bad, well it was to be avoided. I never really thought much about it. Wasn't that stupid of me? I never questioned anything until I started thinking for myself, about the age of 16 or so. But once I finally left back in 1979 (I was 24), I started the process of exploring how I felt about all the shit I had been trained to believe in. One of the wonderful discoveries I found out about myself was the gratitude I felt for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for my personal freedoms. I love this country and those who have fought on our behalf for our freedoms.
Thank you veterans, for the sacrifices you have made for us.

About half the DF's go back? Really?
by AuldSoul inj.r. brown said about half the df's go back.
i know some who went back and promptly faded, some who went back and were "bt" jws (barely there), a few who went back and quickly got df'd again usually before they even got privileges back.. but the one that takes the cake (in my opinion) is the former po of my parent's congregation who had been giving dc parts for years getting disfellowshipped a couple of months after giving the rousing talk, "abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good.
" only after his reinstatement did i discover that was his third df.

I was about 16 or so when I kinda just faded. But when I was about 18 I guess (1973/74), my JW mom started in with the, " Ya know Steve, there's only a little time left . . . ", crap. But it had its effect on me and I went back whole hog. When 1975 came and went a few years later, so did I! I never entertained the idea about going back after that. Fool me once, kinda thing. Anyway, even if I had of ever entertained such thoughts, it would have meant leaving my balls at the Kingdom Hall door! Ya know what? I grown way too accustomed those little guys to give them up!. ;up

The last tug of trained fear.
by Steve Lowry ini was wondering if anyone here could remember their last tug of fear in their stomach after they left the watchtower society, concerning armageddon coming where you may have had a moments regret or fear of not being a jw, and so you wouldnt be "saved".
you know, the stupid conditioning we as jw children received growing up as jw kids.
i realize this may seem like kind of a weird question, but i remember my moment, and going through that experience it was very a freeing feeling once i came through it on the other end.. i was visiting a church in about the 1984 time frame.

"I used to get joy from this in the that I mean an I told you so way, but now I dont want to watch."
I know what you mean. Its kinda like a train wreck. At first ya gotta look, then ya gotta turn away. Cuz, there's really nothing much you can do to help.

Hey sass,
I think story exemplifies that genuine lack of concern the JW has for mankind and what befalls him. But when you think about it, the type of person looking for escape from the world at large who would join an organization that promises ultimate bliss isn't really worried to much or concerned about anyone else. It doesn’t fit into the scheme of things. Its interesting to me how the WBTS can manipulate the rank and file JW into pushing its product, all the while reassuring them how much they must "love" all of mankind. What a bunch of crap, and how self-delusional is the JW. Yea, I’m sure that God helped her "see", by killing off 250,000! But now SHE’s, OK.
